Dartboard measurement is one of the most important aspects of dartboard games. After a few months of practice, if you find that your dartboard height or distance is wrong from the start, once these measurements change, trying to correct your skills could have a huge impact on your future game. These are standard dartboard setting measurements in accordance with the rules of the world's main darts governing bodies, the WDF, THE BDO, and the PDC.
The Dartboard Height – Center of Bull to the Ground
Set up the dartboard height to measure 5 Feet 8 Inches(173 cm) from the center of the dartboard (the center of the bull) to the ground. The height can also be measured as 68 inches or 1.73 meters.
The Dartboard Distance – Ground to the Oche
Set up the dartboard throwing distance to measure 7feet 9 and a quarter-inch(237 cm) from the FRONT of the dartboard to the FRONT of the OCHE(Throwing Line). The throwing distance can also be measured as 93.25 inches or 2.37 meters.
The Dartboard Distance – Center of Bull to the Oche
After your dartboard has completely been set up, it is a good idea to measure the distance from the center of the bull to the oche(toe line/throwing line) to make 100% sure all measurements are correct. If this distance shows to be 9 feet 7 and a half-inch(293 cm) then you know your dartboard was set up correctly. The distance from the center of the bull to the throwing line can also be measured as 115.35 Inches or 2.93 meters.
Dartboard Setup Tips
Place your dartboard in a safe place that is wide enough, and at least one meter of an area on either side of the dartboard should be wide enough and safe to prevent people from being harmed when the dart bounces out.
Carpet or wood flooring is preferred in this area. Tile floors, cement, or anything like that can damage bouncing darts.
✔ It is a good idea to place a dart pad directly under the dartboard.
✔ The dart pad will protect your darts and will save you time in installing the throwing line because the dart pad has measurements, otherwise, any normal carpet will do.
✔ The area must be well lit or contain/be able to accommodate the necessary fixtures to provide adequate lighting to the target.
